John Roger Rosentreter, 78, of Carlinville, IL, died at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 10:51 pm.
He was born December 3, 1947, in Fieldon, IL to Victor Albert Rosentreter & Stella Mae Kalaher Rosentreter. He married Marla Kay Tenick Rosentreter on November 28, 1970 in Carlinville, IL.
He was a farm supply owner and worked for the Chrysler dealership in Carlinville, IL. John enjoyed antique cars and tractors.
He is survived by his spouse, Marla Rosentreter of Carlinville, IL, daughters, Amy Hesseldenz of Charleston, IL, Lisa (Michael) Strei of Cedar Falls, IA, grandchildren, Gabe Strei, Elijah Strei, Cecilia Strei, Asher Strei, sisters in law, Fran, Theresa, many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Donald Rosentreter, Gerald Rosentreter, sister and brother in law, Veryl & Linda Reiher.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 28, 2026 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie from 6pm until 8pm. Memorial mass will be on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 10:00 am at S.S. Mary & Joseph's Catholic Church in Carlinville, IL. Burial will be at New Calvary Cemetery, Carlinville, IL.
