Lauren Petersen

Lauren “L.P.” Diane Petersen went to be with the Lord at 8:30 am on Monday, April 23, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Missouri with her family by her side.

She was born on July 2, 1992 in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Rex E. and Barbara “Bobbie” (Draper) Petersen. 

Lauren was a hostess at 54th Street Grill in Edwardsville and a student at SIUE.  She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, the OLQP Youth Group as well as the Vaughn Hill Church of Christ Youth Group.  She played tennis while at Civic Memorial High School and enjoyed taking photos. Her family nicknamed her “Lolly”; she could light up a room with her free spirit, her fullness for life and her laughter. She danced through life and her greatest joy was being among her friends. She had a giving spirit which continues through organ donation.

She is survived by her parents of Bethalto; her maternal grandmother, Judy (Jakul) Draper; a brother and sister-in-law, Ryan and Shannon Petersen of Cottage Hills; a sister and her fiancé’ Katie Ryan and Josh Lambie of Alton; a nephew, Noah Petersen of Cottage Hills; her uncles and aunts, Rocky and Mary Kay Petersen of Waterloo and Mark and Brenda Reiher of Parkersburg, Iowa and several cousins and friends.  

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Estel E. and Donna M. (Yarrington) Petersen, maternal grandfather, Paul V. Draper and two aunts, Debbie Scharr and Pam Cheatham.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Greater Alton Church, 506 E. Airline Drive in Rosewood Heights, with a service at 7 pm with Pastors Robert and Kerry Cox officiating. 

A funeral Mass will be at 10 am on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto with Father Tom Liebler officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church Youth Group or Vaughn Hill Church of Christ Youth Group.
