Earl Prill

Earl Everett Prill, 87, died at 9:05 p.m., Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.He was born at home in Kane, Il on Feb. 3, 1925, the son of the late John L. & Agnes (Schmittag) Prill.He graduated from the three year Kane High School, and finished his senior year at Jersey Township High School.  He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492.Earl was an auto mechanic his entire life, and began working at Albrecht Chevrolet in Wood River, and later at Sunderland Motors in Jerseyville, until venturing out on his own, operating Prill's Auto Repair in Jerseyville until his retirement.He married the former Marion Helen Prill on Feb. 16, 1946 in Alton, and together they shared 56 years together until her death on April 24, 2002.Surviving are his daughter, Judy Streeper of Jerseyville; two grandchildren, Robert Streeper of San Antonio, Tx., and Mark Streeper of Kirkwood, Mo.; a sister, Dorothy Sauerwein of Jerseyville; and a brother & sister in law, Russell & Mickie Prill of Jerseyville.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son in law, William Streeper on Nov. 8, 1999; a sister, Margaret Foiles; two brothers, Laverne Prill and Eugene Prill in infancy; and a brother in law, Charles Sauerwein.Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until noon on Friday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.A funeral procession will leave from the funeral home for a 12:15 p.m. graveside service at the Kane Cemetery with the Rev. Ed Haun officiating.  Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 will conduct military graveside rites.Memorials may be given to the Kane Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
