Alice Galusha

Alice “Lissa” Elizabeth (Hyndman) Galusha, 76, died at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Evelyn’s House in St. Louis, MO. 

Born September 28, 1948 in Alton, she was the daughter of James Thomas and Alice Billings (McAdams) Hyndman.

Lissa earned her master’s degree in education from Maryville University. She retired after 20 years of service as a schoolteacher for St. Ambrose Catholic School and also for Hazelwood School District. She enjoyed yoga, swimming and quilting and especially enjoyed adventures with her children and grandchildren.

On July 4, 1995, she married Delbert Eugene Galusha. He preceded her in death in October of 2020.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas Wickenhauser (Margaret) of Edwardsville, and Alan Wickenhauser (Janet) of Troy, IL, seven grandchildren, Meghan Wickenhauser, Emily Blaylock (Payton), Jon Wickenhauser, Claire Wickenhauser, Adam Wickenhauser, Ethan Wickenhauser, and Benjamin Wickenhauser, two great grandchildren, Elizabeth Blaylock and Abigail Blaylock, one brother, John Hyndman, one sister, Mary Nelson (John), and many nieces, nephews and friends. 

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her previous husband, Bill Elliot and her sister-in-law, Carol Hyndman. 

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2025 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. 

A memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. Father Steven Janoski will officiate. 

Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose School.
