
Allen Edward “Al” Jenness, age 85, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
He was born in Decatur, Illinois on May 17, 1939, the son of the late W. Perry and Josephine (White) Jenness.
On March 3, 1962, Al married Joyce Ann (Vizer) Jenness in Granite City, Illinois and she passed away on March 25, 2018. Together they had a family of four children and he cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He retired from Crane National Vendors after 52 years of dedicated service. Al was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City. He was a member of the Board of Directors for the United Catholic Credit Union for 18 years and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Tri-Cities Council #1098 in Granite City. He was an avid Rum card player with his good friends at the Knights of Columbus. He had a great sense of humor and the ability to remember jokes and loved to share them with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving children, Michelle Ficker, Laura (Scott) Koberna, Kristin (Brad) Koehnemann and Adam (Jill) Jenness; cherished grandchildren, Steven Ficker, Joel Ficker, Rose Ficker, Natalie (Joe) Pawlak, Joseph (Molly) Koberna, Rachel Koehnemann, Drew Koehnemann, Jillian Jenness and Ella Jenness; great granddaughter, Elaine Koberna; extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2300 Pontoon Road in Granite City, Illinois on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until time of a Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon with Father Alfred Tumwesigye as celebrant.
Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Tri-Cities Council or to Masses.
