In Loving Memory of Ashley Zelechowski. With hearts that will never be the same, we announce the passing of Ashley Zelechowski—a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, soulmate, bonus mom, and friend whose love reached further than words could ever describe. Ashley's time with us was far too short, but the love she gave and the impact she made on the lives of everyone who was fortunate enough to know her will remain forever.
Ashley was the treasured daughter of Larry and Rebecca Zelechowski, and there was never a question of how deeply they loved one another. Larry and Rebecca were her safe place, her biggest supporters, and the foundation of the compassionate woman she became.
She cherished every conversation, every family gathering, every holiday, and every moment spent with them. Whether she needed advice, encouragement, or simply a place to call home, her parents were always there. In return, Ashley loved them with her whole heart and never let them question how important they were to her.
She shared a lifelong bond with her brothers, Kyle Zelechowski and his wife, Lauren, and Jacob Zelechowski and his girlfriend, Haleigh Gordon. Family was everything to Ashley, and some of her happiest memories were simply being together laughing, celebrating milestones, or making everyday moments special.
Ashley was also incredibly close with her extended family. She is lovingly remembered by Aunt Anita and Uncle Bart, Aunt Kathy Sommers, numerous cousins, and a large family who were blessed to know her love, kindness, and generous heart. She treasured her family deeply and cherished every opportunity to spend time with them.
Being an aunt was one of Ashley's greatest joys. Her nieces and nephews—Emma, Memphis, Gabby, and Jakson—brought out her playful spirit and endless love. Whether she was making memories, sharing laughs, or simply spending time together, they always knew how deeply they were loved.
If there was one thing that defined Ashley, it was the way she loved people. She had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel important. When you spoke with Ashley, you had her full attention. She listened without judgment, celebrated every success as though it were her own, and carried the burdens of the people she loved as if they were hers. She never asked for recognition for her kindness, it simply came naturally.
Ashley had a heart that loved fiercely. She was loyal beyond measure and never hesitated to stand up for the people she cared about. She jokingly called it her "big dog syndrome," but everyone knew it came from a place of unconditional love and fierce protection. She made people feel safe. She made people feel seen. Most importantly, she made people feel loved.
She found joy in life's little moments. Shopping trips turned into fashion shows. Birthday parties became unforgettable celebrations. Graduations became family projects. She loved decorating, creating custom shirts, taking pictures, dreaming up new adventures, and making memories with the people she loved. Ashley had a way of turning ordinary days into moments that would be remembered forever.
One of Ashley's greatest blessings was the love she shared with her soulmate, Justin Clark.
Their story began more than twenty years ago—not as a romance, but as a friendship that would become the foundation of a once-in-a-lifetime love. Through every season of life, they remained constant in one another's lives. They grew up together, laughed together, leaned on each other through life's greatest joys and hardest heartbreaks and never stopped believing in one another.
Over time, that lifelong friendship became the kind of love most people only read about in books or watch in movies.
Ashley loved Justin with every piece of her heart. She believed in him, encouraged him, celebrated his successes, carried his burdens, and loved him with a fierce and unwavering devotion. Justin loved Ashley just as deeply. To him, she was far more than the love of his life—she was his best friend of over twenty years, his peace, his greatest supporter, and the person who made every ordinary day extraordinary. Together they built a relationship rooted in friendship, trust, loyalty, laughter, and unconditional love.
Ashley didn't just become Justin's partner, she became family.
She became the bonus mom every child dreams of having to Issebelle Clark and Caitlyn Clark. She loved the girls as though they were her own. She was always there to help with hair and makeup before dances, help pick out outfits, decorate for birthdays and graduation parties, create custom shirts, hold little fashion shows after shopping trips, or simply answer the phone no matter the time of day.
If one of the girls needed someone, Ashley was there. Whether it was friendship drama, relationship advice, a ride across town, or simply someone to listen to, she never made them feel like their problems were too small. She made them feel heard, understood, and deeply loved.
Even during times when Ashley carried worries of her own, she always chose to put others first. Just days before her passing, she spent an evening listening to someone else's heart while quietly carrying her own burdens. That was Ashley. She loved with her whole heart until her very last day.
Ashley dreamed of the future. She looked forward to taking aura photos, getting their palms read, checking adventures off bucket lists, celebrating Caitlyn's 21st birthday, traveling to Las Vegas together, and making countless more memories with the people she loved. She taught those around her to embrace life, cherish every moment, and never stop dreaming.
Ashley leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured by years, but by lives touched. Her kindness changed people. Her laughter filled rooms. Her hugs brought comfort. Her love made people better.
She leaves behind her loving parents, Larry and Rebecca Zelechowski; her brothers, Kyle Zelechowski and his wife, Lauren, and Jacob Zelechowski and his girlfriend, Haleigh Gordon; her beloved Aunt Anita and Uncle Bart, Aunt Kathy Sommers, numerous cousins, her cherished nieces and nephews—Emma, Memphis, Gabby, and Jakson—the love of her life and soulmate, Justin Clark, her beloved bonus daughters, Issebelle Clark and Caitlyn Clark, countless friends, and all whose lives were forever changed by knowing her.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ashley's beautiful life on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at Steamfitters Local 439 Hall, 1220 Donald Bailey Dr., Caseyville, IL. Together we will gather to share stories, laughter, tears, and memories of a woman whose heart touched so many lives. Everyone whose life was blessed by Ashley's love is welcome to join us as we honor and celebrate the incredible person she was.
Ashley's greatest accomplishment was never measured by titles or achievements. It was measured by the love she gave away so freely. She made people feel seen. She made people feel safe. She made people feel like family.
Though our hearts are broken beyond words, we are forever grateful that we were blessed to know her, to love her, and to be loved by her. Ashley will be missed beyond measure, loved beyond words, and remembered for all the days of our lives.
"Those we love never truly leave us. They walk beside us every day—unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed, and forever held in our hearts."
