
Audrey A. Sybert Brasel, 83, of Vernon Hills, IL, died on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL.
She was born July 19, 1941, in Highland, IL, the daughter of Floy E. and Gladys L. (Mueller) Sybert.
She graduated as the valedictorian from Highland High School in 1959. She moved to St. Louis, MO, after graduation and later, Creve Coeur, MO, Detroit, MI, and South Bend, IN, where she earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University South Bend. She later moved to Naperville, IL, and got her MBA at Benedictine University. She worked as a chemical sales market manager for many companies including Valspar and PURAC America.
She loved jigsaw puzzles, was an avid reader and exerciser, and enjoyed taking her granddaughter to her extra-curricular activities while she was in school. She enjoyed watching her son play hockey and was a big fan of the March Madness basketball tournament each year.
Survivors include her son, Jay Brasel, (Marcia Selig) of Glenview, IL, granddaughter, Alexandria Selig of Denver, CO, sister, Laurie Sybert of St. Louis, MO, and sister-in-law, Mary Jo Sybert of Erlanger, KY; a nephew, Christopher (Jennifer) Sybert of Ft. Belvoir, VA, and nephew Nathan (Shauna) Sybert of Erlanger, KY, great-nephews Aaron, Jacob, Levi, Karter and Lukas Sybert as well as several cousins in the Highland, IL area.
She was preceded in death by her father, Floy E. Sybert on June 24, 2007, her mother, Gladys L. Sybert on December 29, 2017, and her brother, Ronald E. Sybert on January 10, 2023.
Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Mt. Gilead Cumberland Presbyterian Church in rural Greenville, IL, followed by an 11 AM funeral service and burial in Mt. Gilead Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Mt. Gilead Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
