With great sorrow, the Mooney family announces the passing of our kind, caring, red-headed and sassy wife, mother, grandmother, sister-in-law and friend, Barb. She unexpectedly left this life at 4:23pm on March 16, 2023.
Barbara June Mooney, 76, was born August 27, 1946 in St. Louis, MO, the only child to Clarence and Ruth (Kleinschmidt) Koehler.
Barb spent the greatest part of her life with her best friend, Jack Mooney. They had their first date on January 17, 1964. They married on July 09, 1966, marking this year their 57th year of matrimony. Every year they took the time to celebrate both of their special anniversaries. The two of them enjoyed a fulfilling life and enjoyed their two sons: Brian Fitzgerald and Shawn Michael.
In addition to raising her amazing family, Barb gained invaluable experience while working at the downtown St. Louis Adams Mark Hotel. It lit a fire within her and lead to her the amazing accomplishment of Hotel Credit Association. She may have officially retired in 2011 but she couldn’t stay away. Her last day on this earth was spent doing what she enjoyed, working at the office, side by side with her son, Shawn, her daughter-in-law, Nichole, and all the HCA family. The business will celebrate its 30th anniversary this October.
Beyond her professional life, she left behind vast connections that included her husband, a son, grandchildren (Payton -14, Samuel - 12, Oliva - 8), numerous in-laws and those ever-special outlaws.
She was proceeded in death by her mother, father and son, Brian Fitzgerald.
Visitation will be 12:00pm until time of service at 2:00pm on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.
