Davala J. “D.J.” Franke, 71, of Bethalto, IL, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, while under the loving care of her family.
She was born on August 10, 1949 in Clinton, IN, the daughter of David and Dorothy (Helms) Adams.
She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Robert R. Franke, and four children, Meghan and Bob Becraft of Moro, IL, Brighid and Tony Martelli of Elkton, MD, Rory and Michelle Lynch of Oxford, MS, and Ryan and Kacie Lynch of Morris, IL; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Glenn and Richard Adams.
A graduate of the University Of Missouri College of Education, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and minored in English. She was a compassionate and inspiring school teacher before retiring as a Nuclear Maintenance Technician for Ameren. However, her true passion was always family as she embraced every moment as Mom and Grandma D.J.
Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2021, from 1pm until time of service at 2pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Father Tom Liebler officiating.
