David Scott Bunch, 54, of Hillsboro, MO, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at his residence.
He was born on August 5, 1971, in Alton, IL, the son of Gary N. Bunch of Roman Forest, TX, and Clara J. (Martin) and Darrell Schaefer of Granite City, IL. David married Julie R. (Coplin) on August 10, 2016, and she survives.
David graduated from Civic Memorial in 1989. He then went on to serve his county in the United States Army Reserves, fighting in Saudi Arabia for six months of his military career. Some of his favorite things were working on computers, specifically with AI, as he loved technology. David was also an amazing artist. He loved his time spent with friends and family.
Along with his wife and parents, he is survived by a son, Nathan Bevill of Collinsville; siblings, Chris (Tammy Boswell) Bunch of Moro, and Shelly (Aaron) Tite of Rosewood Heights; nieces and nephews, Anna Boswell, Patrick Boswell, Elizabeth Bunch, and Marissa (David) Loeffen; and a great-niece, Olivia; aunts and uncles; and many cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 1 pm until time of service at 3 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Pastor Terry McKinzie will officiate.
Inurnment will take place at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO, at a later date.
