Donald E. Ross, 87, of Freeburg, IL, born September 8, 1937, in Belleville, IL, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025.
Before retirement, Don was a farmer on his family farm near Freeburg. In addition to crops, he also raised hogs and cattle for many years. Most notably, he raised white asparagus for over 60 years. He also raised grapes in his later years. Mr. Ross enlisted in the Army Reserves after graduating high school.
Mr. Ross was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Joyce Ross, nee Etling, his parents, Raymond and Melinda, nee Gauch, Ross; and a sister, Audrey Stiffler.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald Ross and Kevin (Jodie) Ross; two grandchildren, Hunter (Bryce Fischer) Ross and Jonas Ross; a sister, Bernice; a brother, Roger; and several nieces and nephews.
