Dorothy Jean (Timpe) Akers Sr., of Jerseyville, died January 20, 2019, at Jerseyville Manor.
She was born on November 16, 1934 to John Timpe Sr. and Katherine (Hamilton) Timpe. She married Delbert Akers Sr. in 1956 in Pittsfield, who preceded her in death. She was a maker of porcelain dolls, crafts and quilts, and owned an auction house. She was also a past member of Hope Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her children John Timpe III of Indiana, Dorothy (David) Bishop Jr. of Texas, Delbert (Cheryl) Akers Jr. of Godfrey, Billy Joe (Kathy) Akers of Gillespie, Catherine (Paul) Markham of Jerseyville, and April Leeann Tucker of Iowa, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a sister Carol Sue Madden of Gillespie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Robert Eugene Timpe, a brother John Timpe Jr., and a grandson Billy Jay Akers.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 9-11 a.m. at Alexander and Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville, IL. Funeral will follow at 11 a.m. at Alexander and Gubser Funeral Home. Pastor Joel Lohr will officiate.
Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of Alexander and Gubser Funeral Home.
