
George Medart Uhl, Jr. 96, of O’Fallon, IL, born February 23, 1929, in Belleville, IL, died Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Revela Senior Living, O’Fallon, IL.
George was married for nearly 66 years to the love of his life, Marcella “Marcie” Grace Uhl, nee Barber, who passed away in 2016. George was also predeceased by his parents, George M. and Louise, nee Weinelt, Uhl.
George had a 36-year career as a masonry contractor. Throughout his married life, George traveled extensively in North America and Europe with Marcie, family and friends. He was very active in the Okaw Valley Boy Scouts for 60 years and received the Scouts' highest award for an adult volunteer leader, the Silver Beaver Distinguished Service Award. He also was an active participant in the Rotary Club of Belleville, Belleville Chamber of Commerce, Belleville Zoning Board, the Union United Methodist Men, and the T&T golf league. After retiring in Florida, George and Marcie became avid golfers. He loved the performing arts, reading, fishing, and being with family and friends.
George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be sorely missed by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Linda Uhl and
George A. “Skip” and Nancy Uhl; four grandchildren, Nicholas (Laura) Uhl, Andrew (Tessie) Uhl, Amanda (Kyle) Rensing, and Aaron (Ashley) Uhl; 12 great-grandchildren, Robert, Scarlett, Evelina and Cora Uhl; Liam, Alana, Eva, and Jakob Uhl; Kyan and Bryson Rensing; and Weston and Grace Uhl; and his dear sister-in-law, Barbara Edwards, a niece, Patty Weidemann; and nephew, Ronald (Jeannie) Edwards.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Union United Methodist Church, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Edward Weston officiating.
A private burial will be held at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
