Ida E. Kress, age 97, left this world and entered the Kingdom of Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior at 5:53 p.m. on Saturday April 21, 2012, at Alton Memorial Hospital with her daughter by her side.
Ida Weiser was born on October 25, 1914 on a small farm near Brighton, IL. She lived there until she moved to Alton when she married her husband, Howard O. Kress on July 29, 1936.
Ida was a gentle soft-spoken person who asked for little, but gave so much of herself to others. She loved to cook, bake and sew. She liked gardening and put up canned goods in her younger days. She was a stay at home housewife to take care of her home and be a “pet mom” to four dogs during her lifetime. She also enjoyed going fishing with her husband and friends.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Howard in November 1977.
She is survived by her only daughter Rochelle of Alton, and her beloved family friend Walter Dodson of St. Louis, who she referred to as her son.
There will be no visitation and the funeral will be private at the family’s request.
Condolences and contributions may be made to Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton to the American Heart Association and the 5 A’s Animal Shelter.
She loved dogs and always had one until a few years ago. We know she will be eagerly greeted in Heaven by Mike, Mitch, Gypsy and Snow all with wagging tails.
Private Burial Services will be conducted at Roselawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
When she left us, she took a part of our hearts with her.
Mother, you’ll be sadly missed, but you’ll never walk alone! Rochelle and Walter.
Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton are in charge of arrangements.
