James E. Hickman, age 67 of Greenville, passed away Monday, December 1, 2025, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon, Illinois.
Born October 16, 1958, James is the son of James H. and Bertha E. Craig Hickman. James graduated from Collinsville High School with the class of 1976. He furthered his education by attending Greenville College. James was a hard worker, worked construction jobs, and was a truck driver for Star Trucking.
James was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church and proud member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. He served on the Hazel Dell Cemetery Board and always helped with community events when he could. James was also involved with AA for over 30 years, receiving his 30 year coin. He ran a Halfway House in Jacksonville for a couple years. James always helped and encouraged others.
He is survived by his son James Robert Hickman and his grandchildren: James, Bryson, Alena, Kaylee, and Tessa. Also surviving are his siblings: Beverly Klein of Sorento, Barbara (Doug) Schaufelberger of Greenville, and Brenda Rogers of Hardin. Also surviving are nephews Gary Rogers and Erick Klein.
Preceded in death by his parents and a great-nephew Evander Hickman.
A memorial service for James and a Knights of Columbus Chalice service will be 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2026, at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He will be buried in Hazel Dell Cemetery next to his parents. Donnell–Wiegand Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
