Karen Joanne Carpenter, 65, of Bunker Hill, IL, died at her residence in Bunker Hill, IL on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 9:57 pm. She was born February 10, 1956, in St. Louis, MO to Johnnie M. Lappin & Edna June (Garner) Lappin.
She married William Michael Carpenter on January 3, 1976 in Bunker Hill, IL. She was retired after having been a teacher’s aide for the Carlinville School District. Karen was a member of the Bunker Hill Lions Club and Carlinville Moose Lodge.
She is survived by her spouse, William Michael Carpenter of Bunker Hill, IL, children, Christopher Carpenter of Zachary, LA, Jessica (Robert) Jenkins of Bethalto, IL, grandchildren, Emily, Camille, Alana, Tyler, Kylee, siblings, Johnnie (Shelia) Lappin of Dow, IL, David Lappin of Bloomington, IL, Marilyn (Donald) Hughes of Alton, IL, Kristen Elwood of Bunker Hill, IL and several nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial visitation will be on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill, IL from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. COVID 19 guidelines will be followed including mandatory masks.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
