Kimala Jean Bartulis, 67, of Staunton, IL, passed away at 11:21 PM on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at her residence in Staunton, IL. She was born September 25, 1958 in Erin, TN, the daughter of the late Noah & Barbara (Gann) Schmidt. She married Gene Bartulis & he passed away on November 24, 2009.
Kim worked as an Office Administrator at TDS Transport in Staunton, IL for many years. She loved cooking, traveling & “taking the scenic route,” & especially spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two children - David Schmidt of Gillespie, IL, & Sarah (Aaron) Martinez of Staunton, IL; three grandchildren - Taylor Degler of Staunton, IL, Traeh Degler of Staunton, IL, & Rylee Martinez of Staunton, IL; one brother - Jeff (Toby) Schmidt of Staunton, IL; one sister - Desiree Goodwin of Staunton, IL; a sister-in-law - Debbie Schmidt of Staunton, IL; & several nieces, nephews, & cousins also survive.
Besides her husband & parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers - Lynn, Danny, & Timothy Schmidt; a brother-in-law - Dave Goodwin; a sister-in-law - Carol Schmidt; & a nephew - Matt Schmidt.
Visitation will be from 10 AM to 12 noon on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton, IL, with Jeff Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, IL. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
