Margarette A. “Margie” Notter, of Greenville, IL, passed away at 8:45 PM on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at Greenville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center supported & surrounded by loved ones.

Margie was born on April 23, 1940 in Waterloo, IL, the daughter of Otto & Estelle (Schmeding) Johannsen.

She married Cletus J. Notter on June 23, 1959 in Waterloo, IL & he preceded her in death.

Margie had several jobs with all focusing on caring & tending to others. She was a loving wife, mother, & grandmother. She was a childcare provider, a CNA at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra, IL, & an office cleaner for Reichmann Transport.

She loved spending time with family, especially her children, grandchildren, & sisters. She had the kindest heart & was willing to help anyone in need. She enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles, quilting, playing cards, gardening, & sitting on the porch watching the birds.

She is survived by five children & a daughter-in-law - John (Sharon) Notter of Mulberry Grove, IL, Pam Gall of Greenville, IL, Donna (Dean) Powell of Shattuc, IL, Ann (Jerry) Lesemann of Moro, IL, Robert Notter of Staunton, IL, & Robbin Notter of White City, IL; eighteen grandchildren - including Noah (Jolene) Notter, Rob (Elaine) Pelt, Bret Pelt, Derek (Laura Densford) Gall, Cale (Tabatha) Gall, Lauren (Ryan) Athmer, Andrew (Sarah) Miller, Brittany (Kyle) Goestenkors, Trevor (Sarah Mixco) Miller, Kelley (Amanda) Voyles, Se’Rinity Notter, Melissa Pipkin, Emily Pipkin, Lucas Pipkin, Clayton Lesemann, Abbigail (Judson) Hovis, Justin Lesemann, & Evan Notter; seventeen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; her sisters - Laverne Hering, Ethel (Gene) Hosto, Marion (Rueben) Reinhold, Helen Brase, JoAnn Brase, & sister-in-law - MaryKay Schmidt; numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins also survive.

Besides her husband & parents, she was preceded in death by one son - Raymond Notter; brother & sister-in-law - Fred & Eileen Johannsen; brothers-in-law - Melvin Hering, Lloyd Brase, Leroy Brase, Raymond & Carmelita Notter, Eugene Notter, & William Schmidt Jr.; a son-in-law - Darian Ruehrup; & a granddaughter - Kari Katuramu.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel, IL, with Pastor William Gleason officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Hamel, IL.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel, IL.
