
Michael “Mike” Camerer, 69, of Hardin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, with his family by his side.
Mike was born on July 19, 1955, in Alton IL, to Earl and Lauretta (Richards) Camerer. He grew up in Kampsville and later moved to Hardin. He graduated from Calhoun High School, the class of 1973.
After graduation, Mike enjoyed working in several different fields, but he always enjoyed working with people and being outdoors. He managed a Wiist Feed Store where he made lifelong friends. Mike farmed and raised hogs. He later worked for the Calhoun County Highway Dept. and before retiring, he worked for Nutrien delivering to farmers.
He married the love of his life, Brenda (Breden) Camerer on August 4, 1990, and she survives.
Mike could often be found in his garage working on equipment or anything else that someone needed help with. If you ever had the pleasure of visiting Mike and Brenda’s home, you know he loved collecting pigs! Mike’s greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Brenda, a sister Glenda (Jeff) Sidwell of Kampsville and a brother Bard (Debbie) Camerer of Quincy; three sister-in-law’s, Mariann (Mike) Hagen, Karen Elmore, and Dorothy (Mike) Bick; four brothers-in- law, Kevin Breden, Mike Breden, Dennis (Julie) Breden, and Mark Breden; eight nieces, Lori, Kayla, Sheri, Brittany, Sarah, JoBeth, Lauren, and Brooklyn; fourteen nephews, Dack, Mikey, Garrett, Eric, Scotty, James, Jeffrey, Josh, Marcus, Christopher, Rusty, Bradley, Trenton, and Will; twenty seven nieces, Keeleigh, Sydney, Katelyn, Lizzy B, Jordan, Allie, Claire, Lilly, Janie, Chloe, Molly, Natelie, Rosie, Mary, Nellie, Aubrey, Payton, Taylor, Alia, Summer, Addie, Amelia, Cecelia, Eleanor, Audera, Jade, and Oaklyn; fifteen great nephews – Levi, Keegan, Kaden, Payson, Alex, Charlie, Shawn, Carter, Noah, Ethan, Aiden, Damian, Gus, Hudson, and Maddox; and numerous great-great nieces and nephews.
Mike was proceeded in death by his parents, Earl and Lauretta. A special grandmother, Flossie “Bambi” Richards, a brother-in-law, Billy Breden, niece, Kimberly Bryant, and great nephew, Mitchell Holland.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Gress, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Hardin, IL.
Burial will follow at St. Norbert’s Cemetery in Hardin.
