Mildred E. "Millie" Linenfelser, age 80 of Marine, IL, died Monday, December 2, 2024, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

She was born on Wednesday, April 5, 1944, in Alhambra, IL, the daughter of  Allen and Frieda (nee Henke) Lueker.

On Saturday, March 21, 1964, she married Junior LaVern Linenfelser at Hamel, IL, who passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ of Marine and the International Independent Showmans Association. She attended St. Paul Lutheran Elementary School, and graduated from Highland High School in 1962.

As a young woman, Millie worked at Rohrkaste Dairy in Edwardsville. She later attended beauty school and worked at her own shop in Marine, "Millie's Beauty Box." In 1964, she and her husband began operating the Shell gas station in Marine. That same year they also purchased a corn dog stand. In 1976, they began purchasing carnival rides and started Junior's Amusements which they operated for 25 years. Throughout their lives they always enjoyed feeding people and making them happy.

Millie continued with Linenfelser Concessions after they downsized and retired from running a full carnival. In 2012 she and her husband, along with their youngest daughter, opened Millie's Diner in Marine which operated from 2013 until she retired in 2020. Since 2005, Millie and her family have provided food and rides during the fall at Relleke Pumpkin Patch in Pontoon Beach, IL.

Millie was a member of Marine United Church of Christ and International Independent Showmen's Association. She enjoyed collecting Emmett Kelly clowns and Coca-Cola memorabilia.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the United Church of Christ of Marine.

Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2024, at United Church of Christ of Marine in Marine, IL, with Rev. Philip H. Kershner, Pastor, officiating. 

Interment will be at Marine Cemetery in Marine, IL.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the United Church of Christ of Marine Community Fund or Marine Cemetery.
