Ruth Ann Balmer, nee Schueler, 86, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Liberty Village Rehab in Jerseyville, IL. She had a beautiful voice and is singing with the choir of Angels in Heaven.

Ruth was born on March 5, 1939, in Alton, IL. Her beloved parents were Oswald Robert and Marjorie Louise (Hall) Schueler of Dorsey, IL. On February 8, 1985, Ruth married James Robert Balmer at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto.
She was previously married to Allen Bertels and they were blessed with three children; Tim (Heidi) Bertels, Laurie (Terry) Edwards, and John (Christine) Bertels; two step-sons, Jay Balmer and Andrew Balmer. God also blessed her with 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Dan Schueler of Florida.
Ruth accomplished her lifelong dream to become a registered nurse in her late 40's. She also loved working in her flower gardens and watching the birds through her window.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; and a brother, Jim Schueler.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 9:30 am until time of service at 11 am, at Zion Lutheran Church. Pastor Kale Hanson and Pastor Brandon Metcalf will officiate. Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.
Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is assisting the family with final arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran School's Kindergarten Class (Holly Rupprecht) and 4 year old preschool class (Shana Wright).
