Sharen “Corky” Lee Nunn, of Glen Carbon, IL, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born on August 23, 1952, in St. Louis, MO, to the late Wallace “Wally” Nunn and Marie (Posenuk) Nunn.
Corky was a force of nature — sharp, strong-willed, and endlessly curious. She never faced a problem she couldn’t solve, usually after a deep dive into meticulous research. Whether it was mastering a new recipe or fixing something around the house, she approached everything with determination and creativity.
Corky had a beautiful, artistic soul. Her green thumb was legendary, and her yard was a peaceful haven not just for plants, but for the birds, squirrels, and other little creatures she lovingly cared for.
She was also a devoted and deeply loving sister, aunt, and great-aunt. One of her greatest joys in recent years was being part of her great-niece Matilda’s life — cheering her on at school, karate, and every little adventure. Corky’s presence was constant, encouraging, and full of love.
Corky never met a stranger. She was warm, generous with her time, and always willing to share a story, a laugh, or a helping hand. Her absence leaves an unfillable space in the hearts of those who knew her, but her spirit will continue to inspire.
She is survived by her loving sister, Karen Kassel of Glen Carbon, IL; proud aunt to Kim Kassel of Glen Carbon, IL; and proud great aunt to Matilda Kassel — along with extended family and countless friends who were lucky to have known her.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Irwin Chapel in Glen Carbon, IL.
A funeral mass celebrating Corky’s life will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Glen Carbon, IL, with Father Patrick Gibbons officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
