Donald W. SchillingBorn in Alton, Illinois on September 30, 1950 to Harold H. And Florence E. Schilling.  He retired as a nurse in patient care service at John Cochran Veterans Hospital in St. Louis in 2004.  He married Lula Mae Tate on October 13, 2001.  Although their marriage was brief due to Lula’s death, “it was the best thing that ever happened” to Don.He was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife, five aunts (Linda Kuester, Virginia Keister, Marie Roberts Elda Lueking and Gladys Klein) three cousins Dr. Michael Keister, Shirley Darr, Donna Brooks and and Lula’s son Marvin Eugene Hobson Jr.  Surviving are cousins Brian Keister, Jane Baggett, Ronald Lueking, Barbara Eversgerd, Brenda Johnson, Phyllis Newcomb and families.  Also surviving are second cousins and Sam Darr, Nick Darr, Molly Keister, Katie Keister, Tami Ramsey, Penny Moniz, Jeff West, Dina Brooks and families and Lula’s children Etoy Patrice Hobson, Rosalinda Denise Williams, and Lloyd Anthony Brown Jr. and families.He graduated from Illinois College and Lewis and Clark Community College. He enjoyed going to knife shows, photography, collecting movies and music, and convertibles- cars were supposed to be fun.  He was the definition of a procrastinator but had a heart of gold.  Despite ongoing health problems, he never complained.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 6 to 7pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.  Service will be performed by Pastor Mark Hofferber at 7 pmA private burial will take place at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mid-America Transplant Service.Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey is in charge of arrangements.Condolences may be found online at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
