David A. Ellis, 77, passed away at 5:29 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2019 at his home.
Born Apr. 9, 1941 in Anna, IL, he was a son of Carlos and Vivian L. (Wolfe) Ellis.
He married Antoinette K. Jackson May 12, 1961 in Granite City. She survives.
A U.S. Army veteran, David worked as an electrician for 45 years for Laclede Steel and later Alton Steel until his retirement. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He also enjoyed hunting and spending time with his grandson, David.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Corey Watkins of Brighton; three grandchildren, David, Lilly and Lainey Watkins; a brother, ?Larry? (Nancy) Ellis of Williamsport, PA; and a sister-in-law, Ran Ellis of Suwanee, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Karen Pilcic and Linda Lomax; and a brother, Karl Ellis.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 at Paynic Home for Funerals, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Glen Carbon.
