Morris Ervin

Morris “Pete” Lee Ervin, 82, died at 8:20 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home. 

He was born August 19, 1936 on Brookside Avenue in Alton, the son of Bluford and Dorothy (Ackerman) Ervin.  Pete retired as a captain from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1975 after 22 years of service.  He then retired from Ted Wetterau in St. Louis, MO. 

He leaves behind a brother, Ernest “Butch” Ervin of Kansas City, MO, and his “family”, Amy Sholar Schleeper (John), Edward Sholar Jr., Margaret Sholar (Phil Adams), Katie Wilson (Chris), and Danielle McCahill (Mick), Sarah Woodman, and several great nieces, and nephews and special friends. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a half-sister, Philomene Calvin and his life long friend, Edward “Fast Eddie” Sholar. 

Friends are invited to assemble behind the office building at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery by 10:45 a.m. and process into the cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service with full military honors, on Friday, January 25, 2019. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Pete.
