Richard J. Torrez, 78, died at 9:32 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at OSF St. Anthony’s Hospital.
He was born December 10, 1940 in Alton the son of the late Javier and Antonia (Marin) Torrez. He retired after 42 years from Pepsi Cola in Alton. He was a lifetime member of the Owl’s Club and the Alton Moose. On December 31, 1960 in Alton he married the former Linda Ennis and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Kevin Torrez of Bethalto and Rick Dunse of East Alton, five grandchildren, Michael Lair, Heather Lair, Brandon Torrez, Cassie Delp and Curtis Dunse, one great grandchild, Natalie Dunse, two brothers, Robert Torrez of Bunker Hill and Charles Torrez of Carmel, CA and by his loving pets, Gabby and Gizmo.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Deann (Torrez) Wilson and eight brothers, John, Raymond, Andrew, Jessie, Esequiel, Joseph, Martin, Sylvester and one sister, Lupe Steele.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019. Father Jeremy Paulin, OMV will officiate.
Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.
