Robert Frye

Robert Leonard Frye, 80, died suddenly at 3:41 p.m., Thursday, October 17, 2019 at his residence.He was born in Athens, Ohio on November 1, 1938, and was the last surviving of seven children born to Leonard and Freda (Smith) Frye.For many years he was employed through the Labor Local, first in Jerseyville and eventually Alton.   He also worked for Atlas Paving in Godfrey, and retired from Triad Industries in South Roxana, IL.He enjoyed the outdoors, particularly hunting (especially if his son was with him) and piddling around the yard with his "junk".  He was happiest when he was with his family, assisting them in any way that he could, and he could fix anything.Bob was a loyal, faithful member of the Church of the Nazarene in Jerseyville, and he served on numerous committees, and was currently serving as a Trustee.He married the former Winona "Beth" Tucker on May 18, 1957 in Winchester, and together they have shared 62 years of marriage, and have been blessed with their four children.Surviving are his wife, Beth Frye of Grafton; four children and their spouses, Wayne and Diane Frye of Jerseyville, Cheryl and Bruce Sandberg of Godfrey, Becky and Harold Inlow of Jerseyville, and Angie and Jeff Partridge of Jerseyville; 12 Grandchildren; 27 Great Grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jordan Partridge on May 25, 2006; four brothers, Harry Frye, Glenn Frye, Dean Frye and Marvin Frye; and two sisters, Estalene Brown and Donna Walden.Visitation will be from to 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday.  Rev. Edwin Retter will officiate.Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the Church of the Nazarene in Jerseyville.Memories may be shared at crawfordfunerals.com.
