Charles McCormick

Charles “Rick” Richard McCormick, 68, of Godfrey, passed away at 8:45 PM on Friday, January 8, 2021 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on January 14, 1952 in Logan, West Virginia, the son of Charles J. and Ada M. (Robinette) McCormick.  He married Donna K. Bush on November 17, 1973 in Alton.  She survives.

Rick retired from Phillips 66, where he was a Refinery Operator.  He was a member of Abundant Life Community Church in Alton.  Rick loved to travel and found peace on the water.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by three daughters, Erin (Jason) DeVaisher of Alton, Sara (Paul) Wallace of Alton and Laura Poole of Bethalto; a father-in-law, David (Judy) Bush of Jerseyville, eight grandchildren, Katelynn (Brendan Lenhardt) DeVaisher, Reagan DeVaisher, Hunter DeVaisher, Brandon Wallace, Jacob (Faith) Wallace, Madison Wallace, Lucy Poole and Lawson Poole; a sister, Sharon (Allen) Swiney of Palm Bay, FL; two brothers, Mark (Cheryl) McCormick of Edwardsville, and Scott (Joni) McCormick of Alton; three sister-in-laws, Debbie Schetter of Dow; JoEllen Bush of Alton and Gayle Lindsay of Granite City; along with numerous nieces, nephews and good friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, two brothers, Thomas McCormick, and Larry McCormick; a mother-in-law, Geneva Bush; two, brother-in-laws, Terry Bush and Denny Schetter of Dow and his best four legged buddy Chase Michelob.

Visitation will be 4-7 PM on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Abundant Life Community Church in Alton.

A funeral service will be held 11:30 AM on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Abundant Life Community Church in Alton.  Pastor Roy Rhodes will officiate.  Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing, occupancy, and mask wearing guidelines will be followed as mandated by the CDC. 

Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey is entrusted with professional services.

Memorials can be made to Panama Missions through Abundant Life Community Church in Alton or Salvation Army.
