Ilona Marie Thomas passed away at 10:15 AM Saturday January 9, 2021 at Riverside Rehab and Healthcare in Alton.
She was born the daughter of Peter and Frances “Adelia” (Hepplewhite) Poletti.
Ilona married William Thomas on November 29,1952. He preceded her in death on September 12, 1993.
She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening and yardwork.
Ilona is survived a daughter, Debra (Roy “Kellie”) Sitton of Brighton; a son, William (Susan) Thomas of Webster Groves, MO; four grandchildren, Christina (Jarrod) Russell of Fieldon; Angela (Caleb) Goode of Hardin, Alex (Meg) Thomas of Wichita, KS and Callie Thomas of Kansas City, MO; eight great-grandchildren, Clare Russell, Grace Russell, Jack Goode, Charlie Goode, Caroline Goode, Thomas Goode, Lillian Thomas and William Thomas along with several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Teresa Hecht and four brothers, Peter Poletti, Frank Poletti, Ray Poletti and Eddie Poletti.
The family would like to acknowledge BJC Hospice, especially nurses Cathy, Tina, social worker Andrea, Chaplain Philip, and volunteer Judy for exceptional care and compassion. Along with Father Marty at St Francis and Father Paul at St Mary’s for caring and spiritual needs.
A private visitation for family will be held 9 AM until time of Mass on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral in Godfrey. Father Marty Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
