Donald Liley

Donald Everett Liley, 83, died at 2:55 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2024 at his home.  Born July 22, 1941 in Alton, he was the son of Charles Everett and Dorothy (Leathers) Liley. Don retired as a salesman for Roberts Motor Company. He loved boating, golfing, fishing and bowling. On May 4, 1979 he married the former Sharon Ward in Godfrey.  She survives. Also surviving are five children; Jennifer and (Brad) Beck of Paia, HI, Cristie and (Greg) Scott of Bolingbrook, IL, Scott and (Candy) Liley of Brighton, IL, Michelle and (Michael) Otis of Alton, IL, Matthew and (Sandra) Smith of Godfrey, IL, 15 grandchildren; Sean and (Jessica) Sherwood, Samantha and (Paul) Van Dusen, Kimberly and (Erich) Lackey, Jerry and (Emily) Silkwood, Meagan Crafton, Conner Otis, Chance Liley, Sophie Smith, Gave Freolo, Nathan and ( Brandi) Scott, Jared Liley, Ryan Scott, Payge Liley, Seth Smith, Cam Liley, and eight great grandchildren; Logan Hawkins, Hayes Otis, Brynn Silkwood, Sydney Hawkins, Sloan Sherwood, Tucker Silkwood, Mackinnon Sherwood, Aurora Scott. He is also survived by a brother, Gary and (Diane) Liley of East Alton and a sister and brother-in-law, Jim and Lynn Lenker of Alton. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Hunter Beck. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 12 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Vaugh Hill Church of Christ in East Alton. Brian Magnuson will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Vaughn Hill Church of Christ or Hope Animal Rescue. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
