
Raymond Henry Obermeier, 97, of Belleville, IL, born May 23, 1927, in Venedy, IL, died Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, IL.
Raymond was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, and also a member of Zion Lutheran Church since 1949. He enjoyed speaking German and followed his Alma Mater Okawville Rockets basketball. Ray was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball fan, he enjoyed country western music, and dancing. He was well known for his hard work ethic. Ray retired from Marsh Stencil in 1992, where he was commonly known as “Big O” or “Pa”.
He was preceded in death by his son, Raymond “Chuck” Obermeier; his parents, John and Ella, nee Bordewisch, Obermeier; three sisters, Hulda (Hugo) Jacobs, Bertha (Carl) Randoll, and Lou (Norman) Randoll; two brothers, John (Kathryn) Obermeier, and Edward (Darlene) Obermeier; a step-grandson, Troy Siade; his former wife, Leola Etling; and a special friend, Beverly Speedie.
Surviving are his children, Vernon (Mary) Obermeier and Leonelda “Sue” (Ralph) Siade; two grandchildren, Chris Obermeier and Lacey (Shannon) Horn; three great-grandchildren, Jared Obermeier, Spencer Obermeier, and Hendrix Horn; four step-grandchildren, Brent Sanders, Jeff Dickerson, and Brooke and Andrew Surerus; two step-great-grandchildren, Jayden Horn and Drew Horn; two brothers, Roland (Cele) Obermeier and Leonard (Lois) Obermeier; and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Darwin Schrader officiating.
Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
