Mary Ellen (Ruckman) Godi, 60, of Alton, IL, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on March 8, 2025. Born on December 21, 1964, in Alton, IL, Mary was a beloved daughter of Edwin Ruckman Jr. and Eileen (Joehl) Ruckman.
Mary was a dedicated student, attending St. Mary’s Catholic Elementary School and West Middle School before graduating with honors from Alton High School. She furthered her education at St. Louis Community College, earning an Associate's Degree in Applied Science. While working at McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing), she met her husband, Eric Jay Godi. They married on August 31, 1991, and Mary continued her dedicated career at Boeing for 35 years, forming lasting friendships along the way. She recently retired from her position.
Mary had a passion for botany, finding joy in cultivating plants and flowers. She also loved classic rock, going to concerts, traveling, and vacationing with her husband and children. Her fun-loving spirit and contagious sense of humor brought joy to all who knew her.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Eric, and their two children, Emily Godi of Denver, CO, and Jason Godi of Alton, IL. She also leaves behind her parents, Edwin and Eileen Ruckman; her brothers, Jeffrey (Carla) Ruckman of Alton and David (MaryAnn) Ruckman of Godfrey; her sister, Esther (Jeffrey) Krepel of Alton; her brother-in-law, Edward (Janice) Godi of St. Peter’s, MO; as well as her cherished nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
In accordance with her wishes, Mary will be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO, where Mary received compassionate care for Scoliosis as a child.
