Fredrick Lawson

Fredrick Alvin Lawson, 87, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at 8:32 p.m. on Monday, May 26, 2025 at Alton Memorial Hospital. 

He was born June 21, 1937 in Springfield, IL, the son of the late Alvin and Evelyn (Greeling) Lawson. He retired as a computer operator at Lewis and Clark Library in Edwardsville.  

On June 15, 1957 in Alton, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, he married Norma “Jeannie” Jean Rogers, and they spent 67 happy years together and she survives.

Fredrick was a loving father and grandpa; he loved playing guitar and was an avid watch collector.

Also surviving are three daughters, Diane Marie West (Richard), Linda Jane Lawson (Bob Pohlman) and Elaine Catherine (Lawson)  Dyer, five grandchildren, Ashley  Towe (Michael), Braden West (Tamera), Nicholas Dyer, Sarah Dyer and Elizabeth Cowan and five great grandchildren, Makenzie Towe, Cooper Towe, Claire West, Jack West and Lenora West.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ada Mae Coyle and Mary Ellen Boatright. 

A Christian burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey. All services are private.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
