
George "Randy" R. Julian, age 66, of Alton, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 10:53 a.m. in Wood River.
He was born in Sikeston, MO, on March 24, 1959, the son of the late John E. and Nellie M. (Peters) Julian. Randy married Donna M. (Smith) on February 14, 2000 in Edwardsville, she was the love of his life.
Randy was employed as an operator for the Collinsville Water Department for over 35 years, retiring in November of 2021. He was also self employed at Tri County Lab helping to make dentures for many people. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 520. Randy enjoyed spending time at Splinter Creek dirt bike racing, fixing lawn mowers and dirt bikes, gardening, raising tropical fish, barbequing with family and friends, and above all else, he enjoyed watching his grandsons playing sports at Roxana High School. He will be greatly missed.
Randy is survived by his children and their spouses, Mark (Denise) Briggs of East Alton and Tana (Luke) Alexander of Godfrey; two grandchildren, Jordan (Conner) Briggs and Aidan Briggs; one great grand daughter, Scottie Briggs; two brothers and their spouses, Barry (Gaye) Julian of Edwardsville and Jeff (Tammy) Julian of Godfrey; six nieces and nephews, Ben (Megan) Julian, Matt Julian, Nick Julian, John Julian, Wendy Julian and Jeffrey Julian; four great nieces and nephews, Ivan, Hailey, Andrew and Kaylee and several cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife.
Celebration of life visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, July 11, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran in Wood River, with Pastor David Schultz officiating, burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, IL.
Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Roxana Schools Foundation, with all donations directed to benefit the Roxana Athletic Department, a place where his heart and spirit will continue to cheer on generations to come.
