Kathryn D. Boone, 84, formerly of Alton, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Kansas City, MO.
She was born May 12, 1929 in Alton, IL, the daughter of Bernard and Josephine (Chessen) Garvey Sr.
She married James Boone on May 30, 1955 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. He passed away on January 28, 1979.
Kathryn graduated from Marquette High School. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. She enjoyed bowling.
She is survived by a daughter, Jeanne Boone (Shannon Smith) of Kansas City, MO; two grandchildren, Jacob and Hannah Huber of Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Rose Mary Smith of Orlando, FL and Joan (Jack) Keller of Alton; three brothers, James Garvey Sr. of Cypress, CA, Robert Garvey of Wayzata, MN, and Gerald (Cindy) Garvey of Godfrey, and all the extended family of the Garvey and Boone families.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Gregory and Madeline Herb, three brothers, John Garvey Sr., Bernard Garvey Jr. and Thomas Garvey.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 8:30 am until 9:45 am Monday, March 4, 2013 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Monday, March 4, 2013 at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.
Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.
