Algis "Augie" S. Silingas, 72, of Brighton, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025.
He was born on January 16, 1953, in Gary, IN, the son of the late Anthony and the late Rosemary (Engler) Silingas. He married Debra S. Hauversburk on March 1, 2003, in Merrillville, IN. She survives.
Augie worked for US Steel in Gary, IN, as a heavy mobile equipment mechanic until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of Delhi Baptist Church. Augie enjoyed playing music, tinkering in his pole barn, cutting grass, traveling and riding his motorcycles, rescuing dogs and cats, he loved his Honda cars and trucks, and taking his 2 seater cars out for rides. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
Along with his wife, Debra, he is survived by two step-daughters, Andrea (Dan) Hansen of Godfrey, and Stephanie (Kyle) Plummer of Alton; step-grandchildren, Nathan, Morgan, Hailey, Avery, Maggie; a sister, Linda (Glen) Mattingly of Indiana; and nieces and nephews, Anthony Mattingly, Misty Tillema, and Mindy Deno.
Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded by Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
The family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date, at Delhi Baptist Church.
