Demeris Jean Green, age 85 of Greenville, passed away at 5:40 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Greenville Nursing and Rehab in Greenville.
Funeral services will be held February 10, 2025, at the Lifeline Fellowship in Sorento with Pastor Troy Huffman officiating, at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends at the Church from 11 a.m. Monday until service time.
For those who desire, memorials in Jean’s memory may be made to the Lifeline Fellowship Church or the Vitas Hospice at the service or at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Interment will follow in Brown Cemetery.
Demeris Jean Green, the daughter of Curtis Franklin Ward Sr and Pauline Lavern (Clifford) Ward was born on April 8, 1939, in White Oak, Mo, in the Ward home.
Jean was raised in White Oak and Kennett where she grew up and attended the one room schools. When Jean was age 16 she and Charles Conway Green were united in marriage at the courthouse in Hernando, Mississippi and they enjoyed over 56 years together.
They are the parents of four children who survive: Rebecca Darlene Tieman of Perryville, Mo, three sons: Charles Rick Green of Pocahontas, Dennis Ray (Mary) Green of Pocahontas, Curtis Edward (Racheal) Green of Greenville, 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by three siblings: Robert Daniel Ward, Billy Darrell Ward both of Pocahontas, and sister Helen Marie Carrol of Highland.·
Jean and Charles made their home in Kennett, Mo, Florida and California, then Missouri again and moved to Greenville in 1968 where Jean worked at Jakel Inc in Highland, then began caring for people in their own home and had a long career in helping others in their home.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles on Feb. 8, 2011, and two brothers: James Chester Ward and Curtis Franklin Ward Jr.
Jean and the family were very active in their church, the Troy Assembly of God Church in Troy, IL for over 40 years and now has been a member of the Lifetime Fellowship Church in Sorento, IL for the last 15.
