Eugenia T. Taylor, age 62, of Greenfield went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at home surrounded by family. She was born January 27, 1964 in San Antonio, TX, the daughter of Edward and Jacqueline (Walsh) Taylor. Gina is the youngest of a family of 6.
She is survived by her partner, Harold House, and her sons Bruce (Mary) Taylor, Joe House of Chesterfield, and Jay House of Greenfield. She is also survived by two step-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Richard Clark of Hardin, her brother, Fred Mundon and sisters, Liz Becker, Patty Taylor, Evonne Taylor all of Greenfield, and many nieces and nephews along with great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Katherine Dalton and two nieces Collette and Alicia Plummer.
Growing up in Texas, Gina was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. You better not stand in the way of the TV when the Cowboys were on or root against her team. Family Thanksgiving was spent eating dinner around the TV watching the Cowboys play. If there was no TV where they were eating, one was brought so the game could be watched.
She loved her family and was fiercely protective of them all. She’s part of a close-knit family that are all known for being tough on the outside but the kindest people you’ll ever meet.
Gina didn’t know a stranger. She became well known in the community working at Midtown Mart for 29 years. Gina made people’s days and the world’s best and most infamous sweet tea. People would wait in line for her to make a new batch because it was so good. If you were having a bad day, she could turn it around with a smile, a listening ear, and a “You Go Girl.” You always felt like – no matter who you were – Gina was cheering you on. You also walked in to Midtown hearing music played and sometimes caught Gina singing. She loved music and she always had some playing.
Gina was a strong family person. She loved her family and was the happiest when she was with them. She enjoyed family get togethers when games were played and competition began.
When her health caused her to retire early, she was missed but not forgotten. She loved her people and her people loved her.
When Gina lost her mom, she was looking forward to the day she would get to see her again. Her family is comforted to know that she is reunited with her mom, her beloved sister and nieces, and most importantly Jesus.
A visitation will be held Friday, August 28, from 4 until 7 pm at Shields-Bishop Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30. Burial will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date.
