Kenneth, the son of Delmar A. and Gladys (Brown) Slatton, was born January 8, 1937, in Truman, Arkansas. Ken grew up in Niles, Michigan where he attended and graduated high school. He moved to Brookings, Oregon where he meet the love of his life Carolyn Putman. Ken and Carol were united in marriage on June 15, 1957. They enjoyed 59 years together before she passed away on January 4, 2016.

Ken was a long-time faithful member of the Church of Christ. In his spare time, he had a passion for the 2 mustangs he restored, a 1966 Mustang Convertible and a 1965 Mustang Fastback. For anyone that knew Ken, he would tell you what he thought without sugar coating it, and turn around to give you the shirt off his back to help you out. That’s just how he was. He may have also been a little stubborn at times too.

Ken and Carol had 3 children:  Kenneth E. Slatton and wife Nancy of Greenville, Christopher A. Slatton and wife Pennie of Greenville, and daughter Laura H. (Slatton) Zeller-Plunkett who passed away on August 13, 2012.

Ken was a steeple jack and traveled all over the county with his family. They settled in Troy, Illinois before moving to Greenville in 1967. Slatton’s Excavating was opened in 1976 and he ran the family business until retiring in 2015. Kenny and Chris have continued running the family business. Ken enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Loving grandfather to: Brooke (Steven) Scott, Amanda (Jared) Mason, Ashley (Brandon) Kircher, Traci (Timothy) Hall, Zachary (Karyssa) Slatton, and Coty (Brooklyn) Slatton.
Great-grandfather to: Nori, Oona, Ava, Kali, Bellamie, Kane, Licah, Leo, Donivan and Nelda.

Kenneth was one of 5 children growing up, he was preceded in death by all his siblings: Euguene Slatton, Floyd Slatton, Modena Morgan, and Donald Slatton and his parents Delmar and Gladys, and daughter Laura.
