Larry L. Dunn, 65, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away at 4:51 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
He was born September 21, 1960, in Marion, Ohio, a son of the late Albert and Rocille (Smith) Dunn. He married Donna J. (Coakley) Dunn on December 21, 2011, in Granite City, and she survives.
Larry began driving a truck at the age of 17 and spent the next 48 years traveling the highways, building a lifetime of memories along the way. He was the proud owner and operator of Dunn’s Heavy Haul Trucking and truly loved the trucking life. When he was not on the road, Larry could often be found tinkering in his garage or spending time working at his drop lot.
He enjoyed attending auctions, was a gun enthusiast and an avid fan of NHRA racing. He also treasured his days of riding motorcycles. Larry had a story for just about every occasion and was always happy to share one with anyone willing to listen. He never knew a stranger and had a way of making conversation wherever he went. He also dearly loved his German Shepherds, Lucy and Ethel.
In addition to his beloved wife, Donna, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Tiffany and Poncho Torres of Granite City and Angela and Thomas Hernandez of Granite City; nine grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Joanne Dunn of Bonne Terre, Missouri, and Bobby and Debbie Dunn of Granite City; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Tim Cameron of Granite City and Judy and Randy Cameron of Bethalto; many nieces and nephews; other extended family; and many dear friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Cody Hyde; a brother, Kenneth Dunn; and a sister, Marilyn Allen.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12:30 p.m., with Pastor Keith Braddock officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
