Teresa Woelfel

Teresa June Woelfel, 63, died Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis, Mo., as a result of complications from cancer.She was born in Parma, Mo. on March 13, 1949, and was the daughter of Ira Scott of St. James, Mo. and the late Pauletta (Brown) Scott.Born into a military family, Teresa grew up in several different locales, and graduated from the Caesar Rodney High School in Dover, De.She had a deep passion for life that was driven by her faith in the Lord, and her family.  Teresa was a beloved wife of 43 years to Thomas Woelfel whom she married on Aug. 16, 1969 in Kissimmee, Florida. She was blessed with three children & their spouses, whom she considered to her own as well, Scott & Melissa Woelfel of Jerseyville, Lance & Amanda Woelfel of Kirkwood, Mo., and Regina & Eric Broeckling of Shiloh; her five grandchildren were her inspiration, Nick Woelfel, Courtney Woelfel, Alyssa Broeckling, Bethany Broeckling and Noah Woelfel.Teresa is also survived by a brother & sister in law, Robert & Hatice Scott of Rolla, Mo.; and three sisters in law and brothers in law, Sharon Rexford, Kathleen & Dale Henderson, and Laurie & Matt Horn all of Alton.With her 20 plus years of faithful and devoted service to the children & families of St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic School in Jerseyville, Teresa has influenced and molded countless lives in our community through her generous and sincere spirit of giving.  She lived and loved everyday with the fullest of spirit.  Even throughout her two bouts with cancer, Teresa never allowed anything to get her down.  Her absence will leave a void in the hearts of all who not only knew her, but loved to her, as well.Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be ceebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday.  Father Patrick Gibbons will officiate.She will be laid to rest in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Jerseyville.In the tradition her giving spirit, memorials may be given to the St. Vincent DePaul Society to assist the less fortunate of Jersey County.
