G. Lorene Sileven, 95, passed away at 7:16 am on Sunday, January 20, 2019 in Alton.

She was born on December 13, 1923 in Orient, IL to George and Mae Mezo Essary. 

She married Harold Sileven on July 29, 1945 in Alton, IL

Lorene was a homemaker and enjoyed being with her family and friends. A member of Brown Street Baptist Church in Alton, she enjoyed working in the church kitchen, setting up for special dinners and was known for her desserts, especially her pies and pink fluff salad. 

She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Sileven of Orlando, FL and Teresa Tripp (Bob) of Godfrey; one son-in-law, Wesley Gene Lohr of Godfrey; four grandchildren, Terry Lohr, Renee Brown, Andy Wittman, and Amy Wittman; six great grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Mark and Noah Brown, Kari Lohr, and Grant Wittman; and one brother, Stell Essary of Wood River. 

Lorene was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a daughter, Karen Lohr; two sisters, Wilma Sneed and Lola Wells; and a brother, Harley Essary. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at the Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Brown Street Baptist Church in Alton with Rev. Greg Linscott officiating. Burial will follow at the Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, IL.

Memorials may be directed to Brown Street Baptist Church in Alton.
