Leo Daniels

Leo Dale “Woody” Daniels, 81, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024 in the Emergency Room at Alton Memorial Hospital.

He was born on September 13, 1942 in Kane, Illinois, one of twelve children born to the late Everett J. and Emma (Isringhausen) Daniels.

Woody graduated with the Class of 1960 from Jersey Community High School and went on to serve our Country with the United States Air Force.

He married Lois Ardell Caulkins on March 2, 1973 at Main Street United Methodist Church in Alton. Throughout the course of their 51 years of marriage, they were blessed with many wonderful memories together as a family.

Woody was employed in the Maintenance field for the majority of his life, and had worked for the Madison County Housing Authority, Alton Memorial Hospital and ended his working career with United Methodist Village in Godfrey, where he was employed for 20 years until his retirement in 2018.

Surviving are his wife, Lois Daniels of Alton; three children, Elmer Dale Daniels of Dow, Sherry Marshall (Mark Beatty) of Jerseyville and Brent (Lauren) Daniels of Edwardsville; three grandchildren, Whitney Steckel of Jerseyville, Chelsea Daniels of Dow and Jett Rose of Edwardsville; two great grandchildren, Harper and Brooklyn Steckel of Jerseyville; two sisters, Kimberly Roberts and Sharon Acree, both of Jerseyville; as well as a brother, Raymond Daniels of Ina.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Judy Ann Daniels, Camilla Waltrip, Nevada Lay and Loretta Drake and four brothers, George Daniels, Richard Daniels, Loren Clifford Daniels and Robert Daniels.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m.,  Monday, March 25, 2024 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Tuesday.

Burial will follow at Kane Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to 5A’s Animal Shelter or to Main Street United Methodist Church in Alton, where Woody was a member.
