Blake Crotchett

Dow 06/08/2025

Blake Chandler Crotchett, 27, died unexpectedly at 10:45 a.m., Sunday, June 8, 2025, at his home in Dow. His passing leaves an ache that words cannot fill, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him deeply.

Born on March 10, 1998, in Alton, Illinois, Blake was the beloved son of Michael and Stacey (Young) Crotchett. He graduated with the Class of 2016 from Jersey Community High School and worked alongside his father as a talented and hardworking carpenter with Crotchett Construction. He took great pride in his work and gave his all to every project.

Blake had a heart that reached far beyond his years. He never missed a chance to say “I love you,” and those who knew him will remember him as someone who truly felt everything—big love, deep loyalty, and a desire to make people feel seen, happy, and whole. His kindness came naturally. His soul was gentle and full of wonder.

He found peace walking along the riverbank, collecting rocks and crystals. He felt most alive surrounded by music, lights, and laughter at festivals. He worked hard, loved harder, and above all, he wanted others to know they mattered.

Surviving are his parents, Mike and Stacey Crotchett of Dow; his siblings, Richard Crotchett of Missouri, Ashley Crotchett of Jerseyville, and Gage Crotchett of Dow; his grandma, Patricia Gipson of Jerseyville; and his mamaw and papaw, Shirley and Delbert Young of Dow. Also surviving are his aunts and uncles, Dede Young and Rusty Young of Dow, and Amy (Scott) Turman of Jerseyville; his nieces, Layla and Brookelyn Crotchett; his best friends, Joe Croxford and Jensen Cress; his loyal dogs, Maggie and Molly; and many cousins, including a special cousin, Ryder Young.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Richard Crotchett and E. Neal Gipson.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, June 16, 2025, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday. Rev. Fred Summers will officiate, and Blake will be laid to rest at Newbern Cemetery in Dow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family, in care of the funeral home.

Blake’s life was a reminder that some hearts shine brighter, feel deeper, and leave a bigger imprint on the world around them. Though his time here was far too short, his love—fierce, open, and unshakably real—will continue to echo in every person he touched.
